Today while I sat down to do my morning scripture study, Jack was up and said "Dad I need to tell you something I did while you were gone." My first thought was to keep reading and make sure I finished my studies but I had the prompting to put down my scriptures and give him my full attention. He went on to tell me about how he lost his toys for throwing a toy at mom. We talked about how sorry he was and that we need to be respectful of people and our toys. Our discussion led to the topic of agency and how we have choices when we are upset and angry. We talked about the war in Heaven and where agency started. We talked about Heavenly Father's plan and Christ's role in the plan. It was a great discussion.
I learned the importance to talk when your kids want to talk. I will be sure to continue this throughout our kids lives. I want them to always be able to talk to Heather and I and know that we are there for them ready to listen and talk. I feel like I learn so much from them each day and I am very blessed to be a father.
